Weather

The weather conditions in the Alps can rapidly change. High winds, violent storms and heavy snowfall can completely change the landscape. However the majority of Alpine Trekkers avoid high mountain bad weather by staying low in the valleys and utilize accommodation near to valley bases.

Wind chill rating: Medium

Gear Notes

The lightweight sleeping bags are selected for camping in the valley base where nighttime temperatures are likely to be between 0C and +10C, or for use in the mountain huts. The down clothing will provide sufficient warmth for an early alpine start from a hut or valley campsite.

The gear listed here is for the traditional summer mountain conditions of June through to September.
